wSew is delighted to have been successful in a recent application for a Business Development Grant from Eastleigh Borough Council. The council have agreed to part fund the purchase of 5 brand new Brother electric machines which will be available for adults and secondary school aged young people to learn on. It will be fantastic to have a set of new modern machines – thank you Eastleigh Borough Council Business Development Team!
So many people were on the waiting list that a second after school club is being offered on a Thursday. The first (3.45 – 4.45pm) is aimed at years 4 and 5. The second (5 – 6pm) is ideal for years 6 and above. As before, all material, equipment and tuition is provided. Young people do not need to have used a sewing machine before. This term we have some great projects organised on the theme of ‘Study’ and then, from November, ‘Christmas’.
The second term of the after school club is about to begin. All of the great sewers from the first term are wanting to continue which is really good news. In addition we will be joined by 3 new people. Firstly we welcome Miss Naomi who will be attending as an assistant. The presence of Miss Naomi, herself a keen and able sewer, means that we can invite 2 more young people to join us on Thursday evenings. there are lots of exciting sewing activities lined up ranging from making accessories, clothing, mothers day gifts and even a clothing recycling project which will test all our design skills to the max!
